5.How to overcome job dissatisfaction ?

Here are some ways how enterprises or managers can fight employee job dissatisfaction and prevent an employee from being unhappy at work,

1. Provide clear set of goals and instructions

Provide clear instructions and a well-established set of goals to employees to conflict the sense of uncertainty and poor direction that is a common source of dissatisfaction at work. Make the short- and long-term results of every exercise known, and your employees will be more optimistic about what they are working toward and more efficient in getting there.

2. Give your employees variety of work

Give workers with opportunities for advancement and variety in their work. Repetitive work of any kind can result in apathy and boredom, low productivity and no pride during the work. Employees who are able to mix it up and do different tasks over the span of a workday or workweek are less likely to succumb to the numbness of repetition. Additionally, if employees feel as though they are not taken seriously and will never have the chance to excel and move up, they are less likely to work as efficiently and effectively as those who have something to gain.

3. Manage work efficiently

Consider the nonworking lives of workers when handing out travel and holiday assignments. Take into account the fact that employees may have existing plans, responsibilities at home and a desire to work on a schedule that does not cause tension outside of work. Ask for volunteers to handle special assignments and try not to force additional responsibilities on those who does not wish.

4. Allowing for remote work

Avoid creating an atmosphere of frequent overtime and work that is never ending. Employees are dissatisfied when they are expected to work beyond the standard 8-hour day repeatedly with little or no reward. While an extra effort may be necessary time to time, it should not be the norm. The stress that long hours put on workers and their families is a big source of dissatisfaction. Allowing for remote work and flex days can make an impact if the workload is too great to complete during regular work hours.

5. Allowing for input & control at every level

Grant some level of control to the workers to instill a feeling that they hold domain over at least some part of the work at hand. When employees take orders without any say in why or how a task is completed, they may develop resentment and dissatisfaction with the process. Allowing for input and control at every level helps to create an emotional and professional backing in the work.

6. Constant communication with your subordinates

Communicate with employees to show that their presence, skills and opinions matter. Praise good work and let it be known that you identified. No matter what your rank in management, you should be able to talk with employees on a one-to-one level so that they feel they are taken seriously and that they are valued within the company. If management avoids the employees, resentment of the higher ups and a feeling that ideas and opinions are discounted may form.

7. Division of work

Learn the language of your department so that you are able to talk to all of your employees as peers no matter what their job function. In many cases, managers have a specialty area and leave the rest up to the employees who know it best. This can prove to be a source of dissatisfaction when workers are repeatedly met with blank stares and incomprehension as they bring up technical concerns or data to their superiors. The result can be a feeling of alienation and the formation of separate subcultures within the workplace.

8. Streamlining processes & record keeping

Reduce the amount of tedious tasks that fall onto the desks of your managers and employees. Streamlining processes and record keeping can brighten the days of all your workers as they avoid the dullest and most patience-testing parts of their job. The less time that is spent on time-consuming tedium, the more can be spent on the vital and profitable parts of the business.

9. Eliminate favoritism

Eliminate any favoritism in the workplace. Whether you tend to lean on your most productive employees the most or you have a habit of hiring your nephews into the company, favoritism of any kind can affect the morale and the general attitude of workers toward the company. If an employee feels as though his hard work is in vain because the favorite employee will get the promotion in the end anyway, he won't bother going the extra mile and his production will suffer.

10. Give your employees recognition

Create a system of rewards, monetary and otherwise, to show your employees that their hard work is recognized and appreciated. Promotions, raises, bonuses, workplace events and group outings are all great ways to reward while improving the general attitude and the relationships between employees and each other as well as the management. A small investment in worker rewards can yield a large return in production and efficiency over time.
